NSAR team members are all unpaid volunteers who give their time freely. We have multiple roles within the team that will suit people with varied skills, of different age groups, from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of experience.
For our operational team members, there are practical fitness standards that need to be achieved and maintained in order to carry out the basic search technician role safely and effectively. We also have non-operational roles that provide an equally important supporting role within the team that do not require the same fitness levels.
We are interested to hear from people who feel they have what it takes to be a valued member of NSAR. But, before you apply, it’s important to consider how much of a commitment it will be – not just from you, but also your families – in both time and money.
Our callouts can occur at any time of the day or night and can, at times, last multiple days. Equally we can go for many weeks without any callouts. Whilst there is no set time commitment required, we do expect members to be able to regularly turn out for callouts (for operational roles) and also make themselves available for regular training and get involved in all areas of team support from fundraising and events to regular vehicle and equipment maintenance checks.
